ABOUT US

We are members of and support the United States Boer Goat Association
- WWW.USBGA.org/

We raise full blood Boer goats because we believe they best fulfill the requirements needed to produce the highest quality meat goat (and they're fun). It is an accepted fact that quality genetics are a requirement to produce quality goats, whatever the end use may be. Therefore, many of the bloodlines in our goats are from well known names (check our Pedigree page). So, if you are looking for some great bloodlines in beautiful & healthy goats to compliment your herd, take a look... Our brood does are working to produce over one hundred full blood Boer goats this year (2008). We do not show goats, but some of our goats would do very well in the ring... so, if you are looking for your next champion Boer goat, or want to add some great bloodlines to your herd, or to put muscle and meat where it belongs, all at a very affordable price, shop Lookout Mountain Boer Goat Farm in North Alabama today!

Our first group of kids are due the first week of March (08). If all goes well we'll post pictures as the new goats arrive.

We accept most major credit cards for your convenience.

Look through the pictures below of our farm and enjoy!

A little more about us:

In 1961 my father, Frank Shaneyfelt, and my mother Eunice moved their young family to a small 40 acre farm on Lookout Mountain in North Alabama. There they raised 5 boys, including myself (Steve). Mom and Dad still live on part of the farm and are active, particularly in church work.

Some years ago my wife Mary and I purchased about 20 acres of the home place. We have been able to purchase other acreage as well that joins the original piece. Today we have 400+ acres that make up our home and farm.

As time passed we built our home, a spring fed catfish lake, and a couple of barns. Planning to eventually raise cattle, fencing and pastures were added as well. In the process, I purchased some goats to clear around our lake and to do some other 'similar' work. The rest, you could say, is history! I began reading about goats, and then visiting goat farms. Some where along the way I became committed to the concept of goat farming. I decided on Boer goats because of all the reasons that make them so popular, including their marketability.

As a full time Pastor there is not much feasibility in working a set schedule on a regular job. And, we sure need for our land to be developed into something productive. Boer goat farming allows me to be flexible and "till the land".

My wife Mary, daughter Hannah, nephew Christopher, and myself are very enthusiastic about this goat enterprise. We believe we have found a perfect match for our farm and have a clear vision fueled by passion, determination, enthusiasm, and a knowledge / experience base that grows daily.
